Here is a tip to find out if you have BNO status.

This is a link with Cantonese instructions on how to check if you have BNO status.

According to this article, you are a BNO citizen if:

  • You were under 11 before 1 July 1997
  • The date of issue of your Hong Kong ID card is (06-97) or before
  • You were born in Hong Kong and the word “Established” was written on your birth certificate

If still in doubt, email HM Passport Office (HMPO) at queries@hmpo.gov.uk to check. Do remember to let them know your first and last names, date of birth, and country of birth. The article says you should get a reply within a week but with COVID-19, you may have to be patient.
